In Berlin

We made it to Berlin with no problems. Well, amost no problems... Kitty is still loud even on children's benadryl. Here she is in her carrier. But the only way we could calm her down was to keep her under my coat! All the kids on the plane loved her, but the TSA agents didn't so much.

We have a temporary apartment in Zehlendorf, which is a 20 minute walk from the institute. Here is a view from the balcony. The place is very small and yesterday the doorknob came off in my hand. I think we are going to move as soon as we can!

Yesterday Germany destroyed Australia in the world cup, 4-0. There were lots of fireworks and car horns after the game. At the moment, everyone at the institute is watching Holland-Denmark, and since most of them are from Holland there is a lot of orange in the room. Who knew that orange was the national color of Holland? I didn't.

I was wondering if you guys got to see the Australia game. It was such a rout, it would have been exciting to watch in Germany.

I'm curious what your neighbors and workmates fave to say about the Holland game. It didn't look like they have what's going to be needed to take on Germany.

Eep, I knew that Holland's color was orange. During the Winter Olympics, they had the ugliest speed-skating uniforms I'd ever seen.

Did Kitty have to stay in the cage the entire flight. At least the kids got to walk around.

Congratulations on transporting Kitty successfully. Know it was stressful for you all. Quite a change in one week, eh? From watching a garbage truck back into a tree to looking out over German rooftops from your new (knobless) apartment.

Here, it has FINALLY stopped raining. The first batch of lettuces damped off and keeled over. The new planting finally came up after one day of real sun.
